I've been a fan of the Atlanta Braves since before Dale Murphy's 44-homer season. They were a big part of my childhood. But by the late 1990s, I lost interest, too busy with cars, girls, and electric guitars.

The years rolled by, I traded girls for being married to my one-and-only, cars for a minivan, and electric angst for singing the kids to sleep. In the Spring of 2006, with our second son still a tiny soft pink wonder small enough to stretch out on my chest with room left over, my wife was flipping through the channels and suggested we might all watch the Braves game together.

Our family has never been the same since.
